Seven Eleven was founded in Amsterdam in 1987 and is considered to be one of Europe's leading formations in the field of funk, jazz and hip-hop crossovers. From 1990 until 1992 the band joined forces with Dope Posse, a southern Dutch hip-hop group, to merge rappers and a funk band live on stage.

After winning the Camelpop award in 1993, Seven Eleven refined their funk formula during their live concerts with a horn section. In 1995 the band recorded their debut album 'The Come Out' in Studio LeRoy Amsterdam with help of New York guitarist and producer Menace (Madonna, Bill Laswell, P-Funk). The album was released in 1996 and received outstanding acclaims.

Through the years the band's energetic live reputation was growing rapidly and soon their concerts were broadcasted on radio and television. The band's first single Unfunky B.I.T.C.H. (1999) appeared on several funk compilations.

In the new millennium Seven Eleven played and recorded with Fred Wesley (James Brown, Parliament), Mudbone Cooper (Parliament, Bootsy's Rubber Band), Dawn Silva (Brides of Funkenstein) and many others.
